An article appeared in the Mt. Pleasant Pyramid and then the Provo
Daily Herald on July 1, 2010 entitled : "Neighborhood outraged over
facility". Tonight at 7:30, MATR will be meeting with the Mt. Pleasant
City council. Below is the letter our clients formulated and which Janey
and I will present, along with all of the letters sent to facebook and the

June 1993 Celebrating 16 years of Service June 2009
7/27/10
To: Our neighbors, Clergy and Civic leaders and Representatives
For those of us who reside here at MATR (Measures of Affect
Theoretically Relative), we feel deeply troubled and concerned by the
recent July 1st article entitled “Neighborhood outraged over facility”
which was printed in the Pyramid.
We regret that both our presence and oice was not in attendance at the
Mt. Pleasant City Council meeting on that Tuesday of June 22, 2010.
As client residents here at MATR we are priviledged to share in the
opportunity to learn many exciting and innovative ways to channel
and navigate towards a new and refined way of living. We arrive to
these doorsteps of MATR from myriad backgrounds with complex and
treacherous pasts. Our journeys have been long, arduous and most
often painful. Still, the desire within ourselves to to be, and become
better, brighter people to ourselves, our families and our communities
is a discovery we value and cherish. Some of us find this quickly. For
others it takes time. Our curriculum and work ethic is structured,
organized, disciplined and extremely creative.
Love, and often at times, “Tough Love” is ever present here. When we
fall short we are promptly held accountable and appropriate
consequences are swift and certain. Through our imperfections we
pro-actively work together to form a united front with a common
cause; with a shared goal to build a bold and sound foundation to
support our individual futures, futures full of reasonable hope and
healthy expectation. At times we even have the opportunity to have fun
during the learning process.
We are willing to continue to maintain amd extend an open spirit of
charity to the members of our community. We jump at the chance to”
give back” in a heartbeat as this is a source of healing for us. We
genuinely appreciate the support we have received from the Mt.
Pleasant community, particularly in light of the recent July 1st article.
We firmly realize we are part of this community. Please let us know
how we can better be of service. We certainly welcome your comments
and suggestions.
Sincerely,
MATR Clients/Residents
